Here is the plan...

Greetings, all who may cross this page! I figured I should give a little background as to who I am, what I want to do, and why I'm doing this. My name is Kaleena and I am a 23 year old singer / songwriter. I have been in my band, The Scarlet Ending, for the past 9 years and have had some truly incredible opportunities with them. We have toured overseas to Greenland, Germany, and most recently the Middle East with Armed Forces Entertainment, have been signed to a pitch and place deal with Cherry Lane Music Publishing, and also scored some awesome television placements on our own. All in all, things are pretty grand and wonderful here. But naturally, as any normal 23 year old, I just want more. I want to make it so all I have to do to survive is play music -- I can't imagine spending my life doing anything else.

So here I am. 2 years out of college and living in a suburb of Syracuse, NY where life is really great. I have the most supportive family and access to a studio at any time. In a lot of ways, it's a musicians dream -- free room and board, a studio always on hand, and essentially no bills (...yet). My band is in the process of releasing our 3rd cd, but by far our best. The release date is March 9th, and that is why I'm here. This blog is my way to set my life and goals in motion. I want to keep track of things and allow anyone who cares to see what it's like being a musician and trying to make something happen for themselves. Maybe no one will read this -- it will just be like a diary -- and that's cool. But even if one person reads this and gets inspired to get off their ass like I am, I think I did something good here.

I want to move to NYC and make my dreams a reality. How cliche, right? Syracuse will always be home, but I really do think that the city has a lot to offer me, and I can't wait to see it.
